Rolex Air-King (Ref. 14010M) – Technical Understatement

The Air-King 14010M is the refined version of the classic 14010. The “M” in the reference stands for “Modified” and signals the upgrade to a more modern movement.

The Engine-Turned Bezel

The most distinctive feature of this reference is the finely fluted stainless steel bezel (Engine-Turned Bezel). Unlike the polished bezel of the 14000 or the fluted white gold bezel of the Datejust, it gives the Air-King a technical, almost instrument-like look.

Compact Case

With a diameter of 34 mm, the Air-King offers a classic profile. The case made of Oystersteel is robust thanks to the sapphire crystal and screw-down crown and is water-resistant up to 100 meters. Its slim design allows it to easily slip under any cuff.

Caliber 3130

The “M” series is powered by the Caliber 3130. Compared to its predecessor (3000), this movement features a full balance bridge and a larger balance wheel, significantly increasing stability and precision. It is the same base movement that Rolex also used at the time in the Explorer and the Submariner No-Date.

Dial & Bracelet

The dials of the 14010M are often minimalist – mostly in Blue, Silver, or Black with baton indices or the distinctive 3-6-9 numerals. The watch is worn on the classic three-link Oyster bracelet, which emphasizes the sporty character of the watch.
